01. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you and UMC Rides Ltd. ("UMC Rides", "we", "our"). If you do not accept these terms in their entirety, you must discontinue platform access immediately. We may update these terms periodically to reflect updated transport directives.

02. Platform Description

UMC Rides provides digital dispatch infrastructure connecting passengers with licensed motorcycle taxi operators in Kigali City and neighboring sectors. UMC Rides acts as a technology intermediary enabling ride matching, route calculation, safety telemetry, and cashless fare settlement.

03. Account Registration & Integrity

Users must provide accurate, verified information during signup:

• You must be at least 18 years of age to open an independent account.
• You agree to keep your credentials confidential and immediately report unauthorized access.
• Creating duplicate, deceptive, or abusive accounts is strictly prohibited and results in immediate termination.

04. Passenger Responsibilities & Safety

Passenger safety and respect for operators are non-negotiable standards:

• Mandatory Helmet: Every passenger must wear the sanitized safety helmet provided by the driver at all times during transit.
• Single Passenger Rule: Motorcycles may only carry one passenger at a time, strictly obeying Rwandan road traffic law.
• Zero Tolerance: Verbal abuse, physical aggression, alcohol consumption, or carrying hazardous/unlawful cargo is grounds for permanent exclusion and police reporting.

05. Driver Standards & Obligations

Every driver operating under the UMC Rides network commits to:

• Maintaining a valid Class A driving license, RURA transport authorization, and commercial motorcycle insurance.
• Operating safe, roadworthy motorcycles that have passed Rwanda National Police mechanical inspections (Contrôle Technique).
• Providing passengers with clean, sanitized helmets with hygienic disposable head-caps where requested.
• Observing Kigali municipal speed limits (50 km/h urban maximum) and traffic signals at all times.

06. Transparent Pricing & Cashless Settlement

UMC Rides operates under upfront pricing principles:

• Fares are calculated using transparent GPS distance and time tariffs in Rwandan Francs (RWF).
• Electric Motorcycle (EV) rides are automatically discounted by 15% to support clean mobility.
• Payment is settled seamlessly via MTN Mobile Money (*182#), Airtel Money, or approved in-app wallets. Drivers are forbidden from demanding extra cash above the official metered fare.

07. Cancellations & Dispute Resolution

Riders may cancel requests free of charge within 2 minutes of dispatch. Late cancellations after a driver has arrived at the pickup location may incur a modest compensation fee (300 RWF) credited directly to the driver's wallet. If you believe you were unfairly charged, our 24/7 hotline resolves disputes within 2 hours.

08. Safety, Insurance & Limitation of Liability

All registered motorcycles maintain valid third-party statutory insurance covering road accidents. While UMC Rides employs rigorous safety protocols and background checks, transportation involves inherent road conditions; UMC Rides is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from circumstances beyond reasonable platform control.

09. Rwandan Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Rwanda. Any unresolved dispute arising from platform usage shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Kigali, Rwanda.
